Meet a Group Coaching Graduate

Tiffany struggled with shame around food and her body her entire life.


As she neared 40 years old, she realized that she was so wrapped up in shame that she had completely lost the ability to even enjoy food. She felt judged all the time and was embarrassed for people to see her eat at all.


That’s when she came across Find Food Freedom and reached out.


When asked to describe her relationship with food on her intake questionnaire, Tiffany wrote: “My current relationship with food centers around shame. Shame of eating, shame of not eating, shame of being hungry.”


Once she started working with our small group, she was surprised to learn how common her struggle was.


“I thought that I was truly alone in this journey. I thought that I was the only one that had all of these thoughts and feelings, and I was the only one that dealt with this.”


Having a support team helped Tiffany recognize how dieting and feeling shame over her food choices wasn’t serving her. Now, Tiffany truly feels free of food guilt. “Uncoupling shame from food has been worth everything we’ve been doing,” she told me.


She understands that previously, she was using dieting as a coping mechanism: “If any trauma hit, I would always go back to calorie counting or Weight Watchers - something I could control - instead of actually dealing with the emotion itself.”


With guidance from her Intuitive Eating Counselor and the encouragement of her fellow group members, Tiffany was able to dig beneath the surface and uncover her reasons for dieting. Once she identified the emotions at the root of her relationship with food, she was able to process them.


Now she is able to find enjoyment in food once again, and is no longer avoiding experiences or putting her life on hold until she feels worthy. To Tiffany, the most important thing about this whole process is “not waiting to live your life for a number on a scale. Just live your life. Period.”

But for real though… will this just be another diet?


We get it - you’ve been burned before. Eating plans like Noom that claim to be non-restrictive - while encouraging you to count and limit calories 🙄 . “This isn’t really a diet” diets with gimmicks like using smaller plates, drinking a ton of water before eating, or measuring portions using your body parts.

What is a group coaching session like?

Every week, your group will focus on the biggest obstacles and questions that are coming up for everyone. It’s not a class - there is no PowerPoint presentation and you don’t have to take notes and prepare for quizzes! It’s a small group of real people, led by a Registered Dietitian + Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor who cares about your success! We may share worksheets or resources with you, but our main focus is attending to your current needs, not moving you along a curriculum.

Do I have to complete the Find Food Freedom online course during the 12 weeks?

Investing in group coaching gets you lifetime access to our online course, but you don’t have to complete it. Your Intuitive Eating Counselor will give you a syllabus that advises you on how best to go through the course during the 12 weeks, but we won’t shame or penalize you if you are unable to do so. Everyone learns and grows on their own timeline; that is the beauty of Intuitive Eating!

How big are the groups?

We keep each group to a small, intimate number so we can share lived experiences and cultivate a safe space to learn and grow together. Groups usually have 5-12 people in them.

Will I lose weight during the 12 weeks?

Weight loss is not the goal when it comes to your intuitive eating journey. To truly make peace with food and restore your relationship with food, we need to remove the focus on weight loss as a measure of “progress.” Three things could happen when you begin to practice Intuitive Eating: (1) You could lose weight, (2) You could gain weight, or (3) Your weight could stay the same. Only your body knows what it needs. With that being said, we will absolutely dig into weight science, set point theory, and how yo-yo dieting + weight cycling impact health!

What if I can’t attend a live session?

Every session is recorded and sent out to participants, so if you can’t make it live you will never miss a beat!

Will everyone in my group be at the same stage as me in intuitive eating?

Our groups are rolling enrollment, which means that members could be at any stage of their journey. We’ve found it incredibly helpful to our newer members to hear from our veterans, and our veteran members feel good when they reach a point where they can advise newer members. Do you work with Eating Disorders?

We work with individuals that have been through ED treatment and are looking for continued support in the recovery process. If you have just been diagnosed with an ED, you may need a higher level of care. You can contact the National Eating Disorders Association Helpline or search for a provider here.

What if I don't have Facebook?

You do not need Facebook to be apart of our group coaching program. You will miss out on connecting with other clients but you will still be able to connect with the group weekly.

What if I don't live in the U.S.?

Not in the US, not a problem! We work with humans like you all over the world! As long as you have an internet connection, you are all set.

I have gone through stages in my life where I felt like food controlled me. I had tried every diet and NOTHING worked.
