After getting thousands of DM's, comments, and emails from medical professionals asking how to take the leap and jump full force into weight inclusive care, I finally decided to create a provider collective with all of the resources and knowledge I so desperately wish I had when starting out. I also love sharing with people everything that DIDN'T work so you don't have to make the mistakes I did. It is so f*cking scary but I promise it is so worth it. Don't let the fear mongering of diet culture hold you back from true alignment with self, a fulfilling career, and the ability to help clients in life changing ways.

Meet Sam:

In Fall of 2019, Sam called her dietitian bestie, Jenna Werner (co-host of the What the Actual Fork Podcast), crying and saying she wanted to quit the field of dietetics and not be a RD anymore. Sam became a Registered Dietitian in 2014. Back then, classes were very heavily rooted in weight centric education (and unfortunately. still are). Being a dietitian in weight centric care felt like her title was 'food police' and it left Sam feeling guilty, shameful, and unfulfilled. She knew that weight centric care was causing harm to her clients but didn't know where to turn. She went into this field because she wanted to help people, but somehow ended up causing harm.

This is where Intuitive Eating saved Sam's life: personally and professionally. She was able to unpack her beliefs around food and body size and start to help people better their health (physically, mentally, and emotionally) without the guilt or shame. By fully immersing herself as a weight inclusive provider, she is able to deliver fair, unbiased healthcare to all humans she interacts with.

Sam went from crying on the waiting room couch saying she was quitting the field of dietetics to being featured on multiple National News Segments including NBC, CBS, and The Drew Barrymore Show, building an online community of over 800K+ amazing humans, and landing a book deal with one of the big 5 publishing house (Let's Just F*cking Eat coming Sept 2027)! This did NOT happen over night. It has been a long, hard, messy, emotional, and uncomfortable journey but one thing is for sure...Sam has the joy and fulfillment she was always searching for in her work and her work has a positive impact on the world. This can be true for you too!

A Note From Julie:

“When I first started my training as a Registered Dietitian I fell into a very disordered relationship with food and my body. The first time I lost weight was by accident, but the results were overwhelming. I got so much attention and noticed when I stopped restricting I gained back the weight plus some. The control, the attention, all of it was so enticing. This rollercoaster lasted for over two decades. In my mid 40’s going through perimenopause my body gave up, I could not lose even a pound. That was when I decided to stop dieting and just eat what felt good. Over the next 10 years my weight increased but my joy and love of life also increased. It took a long time to make peace with my new body, especially after menopause.  But, the peace of enjoying going out to dinner with my friends and family, going on vacations, family celebrations and no longer being obsessive about everything I ate felt amazing. Getting my certification in Intuitive Eating was one of the most amazing experiences for me both personally and professionally. Getting to work with my clients and understanding each step they are going through helps me to really help them unpack their own trauma around diet culture. I feel very lucky to be able to work with my clients and support them through each step of the process!”
